there's a lot of garbage songs out there now. it depends on the record company and what kind of copy protection they use. a lot of newer stuff i'll download 8 or 9 copies of the song before i get a good one. some of them i get after the first try. i really wish everyone would keep their collections clean though. no reason to keep a crappy version on your hard drive...if people would delete them, it wouldn't be an issue!!!

x2! That program is peer to peer, doesn't go over a network like Kazaa and many others, so it's a lot harder to get busted!

kazaa has a lot of those types of songs... and its record companies's faults. because they cant stop us from dling their songs, they flood the "market" with false songs that only play for a few seconds. this is in hopes of discouraging downloading. luckily, i have a campus sharing network i can dl off of... but its still gay that record companies do that

"x2! That program is peer to peer, doesn't go over a network like Kazaa and many others, so it's a lot harder to get busted!" Said Rollerz70.

Rollerz your statement was wrong. Both Win MX and Kazaa are loosely based on Peer to Peer technology. And every last drop of data that travels over the internet can be tracked across the network(the internet is simply the largest network in the world). Regardless if the record companys are willing to put enough money into tracking this is very time consuming. Most smart artist are taking advantage of the internet and mp3's in general. Read the interview by M.E. magazine with Sir-Mix-a-lot. Evan he can see its time to change the media form when it comes to store bought music.

I personally still download even though i know the risks involved(my major is internet security). My feelings are there are to many of us to be tracked down and I'll take my chances.

I use Win MX(rarely) Bit torrent files(mostly) You can download the entire cd and less viruses this way. Although it does aquire you to be fairly computer literate to use a bit torrent system.

if it aint shakin, you've been taken.

ive looked into bit torrent...fairly computer literate is a lil bit of an understatement, or maybe its just me...i use winmx now, i havent had a single song go haywire like on kazaa, which was getting to the point of not being able to find a single song that didnt go haywire.
