Hey guys, I want to get a few opinions from each one of yous. I am debating if i should keep my ported box or go sealed. I use to have a sealed box and it sounded great but so does this ported one (at certain times)on certain music of course. My set up is currently in a 03 BMW 325i. I have my subs facing towards my back seats and i like how they hit compared to when i had them face the trunk. And my trunk does not rattle anymore. My current setup right now is (2) 12" P3's 4 OHM and a p1000 amp (2008 Version). SO if i can please get some feedback i would appreciate it.

PS- I Listen to mostly hip hop music and rap

well i wanna get that hard bass where you can just feel it knock on your back where it can hit lows and high bass.

What do you mean by its louder in a ported box? what about in a sealed box? is it not louder?

In MY EXPERIENCE ported boxes are louder than sealed boxes. And I have noticed that sealed boxes have dead spots .I mean there is one side where bass sounds rally weak.I had my previous sealed box facing the front seats and when you go infront there seamed to be less bass compared to the back. Were as my ported box, bass is all round my truck. And when I opened all the doors ,the BASS is just awesome.

I have to say ported. I had always went with sealed boxes but today I finally finished my first ported box and it blew me away. It's tuned to 35 Hz. All of my music still sounds really good but I am hearing bass that I never new existed on a lot of songs, really low bass. Some songs just rumble insanely loud. A nice mix of SQ and SPL.

do you know the specs of your ported box? The net airspace? Tuning? Anything like that?

Ported is usually the way to go, especially with the type of music you listen to. Only thing is that you have to build a nice solid well tuned/made ported box to retain the sound quality AND heavy hitting/punchy bass that you crave so much.

The affects of tuning and the net volume are going to be a big help on knowing if you will want to keep with a ported enclosure or go with a sealed.

I would go ported also. If the box is designed correctly it will sound as good as a sealed at low volumes. Rather than a sealed though, you can turn the juice up and pop some ears.

I would suggest you keep the other box and try for yourself some different music or the music you love to hear on both boxes. Then let your ears decide which box sound great and that fits your taste.Everyone has a different taste of the way music should sound in a system!..GOOD LUCK and let us know what BANGS you!
