When wiring woofers, basic electronics can help calculate the total impedance load an amp will "see." Since this section is intended for educational use, some diagrams are not practical for car audio applications.
Wiring Method
Parallel Wiring The more woofers connected, the lower the impedance.
Series Wiring The more woofers connected, the higher the impedance.
Series/Parallel Wiring A combination of both series & parallel wiring wiring.
New Speaker Polarity
Positive + Negative -

Old Speaker Polarity
Older Rockford Fosgate speakers (SP, SPP, RFA) utilized painted dots to indicate terminal polarity & impedance.
Positive + Negative -
purple 4Ω no dot
red 8Ω no dot
